"
Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine , you did it for me’’Matthew 25:40
St. Thomas Aquinas Church has a Visitors to the Sick ministry which brings the healing presence of Christ to the sick, shut-ins and elderly, either at home, in hospitals or in nursing homes. In our own visits we extend our love and compassion. We are our parish family’s representatives sharing Holy Communion and our companionship. Most of those we visit are elderly, but not all. Many are patients recovering from surgery or accidents, or who have illnesses that keep them away from attending Mass. We bring them comfort, support, peace and the Body of Christ. Every person we visit is unique, and each has a different need. No two ministers have the same manner or way of being of service to those we visit. Within two months, we have reached out to about 200 Catholic patients at Cookeville Regional Medical Center and we made about 240 home visits in nursing homes and homes. We give out Holy Cards, rosaries, or prayer booklets to anyone in need. New mothers sometimes ask us to bless their babies. We pray with people who can’t receive and we offer Spiritual Communion. If you or your loved one is hospitalized and would like to receive Holy Communion please let somebody know right when you register. The Visitors to the Sick ministry has 18 volunteers and we are always looking for new members.
